Approval for funds to repair and restore the Seawall secured from NYS
|

As a consequence of Hurricane Rita in 2005 a portion of the wall collapsed. This occurred in the area of Bayview Ave. along Shore Road. The length of the collapse was approximately 24 feet. However, the adjacent sections to the collapsed wall have moved and will also need to be reconstructed. The total length of the reconstruction will be between 40 to 50 feet. Further, the timber tie parapet walls retaining the slope between the Bay and Shore Road are severely deteriorated and need to be replaced. A design for the reconstruction has been developed.
New York State Senator Padavan has obtained State funding in the amount of $51,000 to help the Douglas Manor Association reconstruct the wall. Without the Senator's help it would have taken years and numerous Splash & Dash fundraisers to accumulate those funds without assessing the DMA members. The Douglas Manor Association greatly appreciates his interest and efforts on behalf of the community.
